Performing Arts
Music and Drama
Learners study performing arts building their cultural knowledge and creative skills. Music and drama are integral elements to personal and social development of our young people. By removing barriers to ensure an inclusive cultural education, we are building a cohesive community of confident young people who have a sense of belonging. It allows for personal expression, growth of emotional intelligence and empathy whilst developing skills including communication, leadership and analytical thinking which are 21st Century characteristics required to succeed in modern society.
At Royal Docks, we provide a diverse offer of traditional and contemporary dance, drama and music. Through the discrete delivery of each strand of the performing arts, we have developed an integrated approach to our curriculum where our young people receive an enriching offer of performance, composing, devising, choreography and theory.
For some pupils, studying the performing arts will provide a platform for more advanced studies, establishing the basis for a wide range of careers.
