The Music GCSE involves performing as a soloist and as part of a group. Instrumentalists are expected to attend additional instrumental and/or voice lessons. You will create your own compositions, one in your own style and the other related to a theme announced by the exam board. This is done using a variety of medium including computers, acoustic and electronic instruments, the studio and singers. Pupils who want to study GCSE Music must have an ability to play a musical instrument to grade 3 or be gifted in singing. They should also enjoy performing to an audience.
Assessment: There are three assessment components. They contribute different amounts to the overall grade.
Component one (30%): Practical portfolio
Component two (30%): Practical performance
Component three (40%): Written examination
