Languages are for life. We are committed to broadening our pupils’ cultural understanding of the world and developing strong, life-long linguistic skills. We live in a multilingual, multicultural world and our pupils learn that learning a language is not just about being able to speak it, but also learning about other cultures and different attitudes and values.

We strive to nurture enthusiastic and independent language learners and foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. Our curriculum teaches pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing. We encourage the teaching of languages through literature and music and have the opportunity to learn more about other countries through a programme of visits abroad.

From the start of year 1, we create an enjoyable, stimulating and effective language learning experience for our pupils and a foundation for learning further languages and equipping them to study and work in other countries.”
